A 25 year old man was stabbed to death by a suspect who allegedly stole his mobile phone during prayers in Ndhiwa constituency. Alphonce Tabu was killed after being stabbed at the back by a sharp metallic object at Ochol village in Ndhiwa when he went to look for his lost phone on Friday.

The deceased is said to have lost his phone on Thursday night during a prayer congregation in a homestead of their colleagues in the village.

According to the area assistant Chief Joash Osuju, Tabu collapsed after a stab by a suspect identified as Kennedy Ooko. They first engaged in verbal exchange and physical confrontation when Tabu asked the suspect about the lost phone.

“Tabu suspected that Ooko  stole his phone and when he asked him, he turned wild and engaged him physical fight before he stabbed him to death,” Osuju said.

The administrator said Tabu collapsed and died on the spot. “He bled profusely when he collapsed and died,” he added. Osuju said they reported the matter to Ndhiwa police who rushed to the scene, tracked the suspect and arrested him. “Angry villagers had also mobilized themselves and torched four houses belonging to the suspect and his family members following the incident,” the administrator said.

The suspect was taken to Ndhiwa police station where he is currently being held as investigations continue. The deceased body was moved to Manyatta morgue in Kobodo market, Ndhiwa.
