Contractors doing shoddy work in meru warned

Kimathi urged contractors to ensure they finish their work in time by following all due processes without fail so as to avoid the issue of pending bills, adding that all contracts have been awarded and everything is ready for the work to start immediately.

Meru County Chief Officer for Roads and Transport Mr. George Kimathi today held a consultative meeting with the County Government Contractors of the various Ward Fund roads projects for the financial year 2019/2020, the County Assembly Committee on Roads, Public Works and Energy, the County Directorate of Monitoring and Evaluation. This is in line with Governor Kiraitu Murungi’s pledge to improve infrastructure and ensure dust-free towns and markets in Meru.

Kimathi urged contractors to ensure they finish their work in time by following all due processes without fail so as to avoid the issue of pending bills, adding that all contracts have been awarded and everything is ready for the work to start immediately.

 

So far, work to improve markets to Cabro standards have started in several markets across the County, including Kiguchwa market, Kibirichia, Kiirua, Atubetwe Kiongo and Nkubu among others. Many roads across the County are also being opened and graded under the Mechanic and Transport Fund project which is fully funded by the County Government of Meru.
