A team of top officials from the County Government of Meru led by the County Secretary Dr. Rufus Miriti has today toured Igembe South Sub County to fast track the progress of ongoing Cabro project at Kimongoro market and Kimongoro-Ntherone-Kisimani road.

The high level County Government team comprised of CS Dr. Miriti, the CEC member for Roads, Transport and Energy Julius Taitumu (TJ), Martin Mutuma Kubai of County Public Service Board(CPSB) who is also a resident of Igembe South, Kanuni MCA Hon. Josphat Mugambi (Chairman) and several administrators.

“There have been many successive governments and leadership regimes since independence and through each of them, none considered that Kimongoro market can become dust-free, or the impassable, rocky road from Kimongoro through Ntherone, Kianda, Tumutumu to Kusimani could become a highway, until the current administration of our Governor H.E. Kiraitu Murungi has done it, as he promised during the Campaigns, that he will improve roads in all our Wards and modernize all towns in the County,” said CS Miriti.

He added that today’s tour was to inspect the ongoing works to ensure that they are being carried out up to standards to ensure the residents get quality services, as ordered by the Governor.

The CS also noted that through Governor Kiraitu’s intervention, Maua town will be upgraded to Municipality status by end of this year, hence according it similar privileges and benefits of development as Meru town.

Roads Executive Hon. TJ reminded the people of Igembe that Governor Kiraitu’s Government is carrying out similar works in Antubeetwe Kiongo, KK-Itama Road, Kangeta, Kiguchwa, Kianjai, Nkubu, Kibirichia, Kiirua and other areas across the County, noting that the other most impassable and rocky road in Igembe Central, Kiengu-Kore-Nthambiro road was also opened and graded last year.

“During the Campaigns, some politicians lied to our people that once Governor Kiraitu took office he would isolate and discriminate against Igembe in terms of development, but as you can see, he has completely equalized the whole County by giving us more development in the region than any other regime,” said Hon. Taitumu.

CS Dr. Miriti and Hon. Taitumu’s sentiments were strongly supported by area MCA Hon. Mugambi Chairman, who said that the robust developments being witnessed in the region are as a result of Governor Kiraitu’s close working relationship with local leadership and the love he has for the people of Igembe and Meru at large.
