Catholic diocese of Kisii has issued  a raft of measures to be  observed by the faithful as the country fights to contain spread of Covid-19

The measures  include  postponing  weddings, reduction of members by church groups during  meetings and discouraging partying at funerals.

Others are reducing crowds during holy mass and confession sessions.

Reading a statement to the media at St. Vincent Pastoral Centre,Bishop Joseph Mairura Okemwa instructed the faithful to confine funeral ceremonies to family members.

He further banned  preparation of food and partying at the funerals saying it  will  compromise hygienic standards.

Bishop Okemwa  announced cancellation of  a  mass to mark 50 years of  Manga Parish  and asked priests, brothers and nuns to administer holy sacrament on  hands instead of mouth to the faithful.

He appealed to the people not to panic but support current efforts by the government to contain the covid -19 disease  assuring  them of a break through in the crisis.
