Moses kuria links Sabina Chege to sunday’s muranga bloody chaos as DP Ruto accuse jubilee leaders of disrespecting him

At least one person died Sunday and several were injured when chaos broke out in Kenol, Murang’a where youths clashed ahead of Deputy President William Ruto’s visit.

The Tanga Tanga and Kieleweke youths clashed at Kenol on the Thika-Murang’a highway on Sunday morning, police said.

Youths allied to the Kieleweke faction of Jubilee Party arrived in the town as early as 5am chanting slogans in support of President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Dr Ruto’s supporters later convened hurriedly and running battles ensued as both sides transformed Kenol town into a battlefield, causing panic and confusion.

The chaos made the road impassable for motorists leading to a major traffic disruption. Youths engaged in pelting at each other with stones while other carried serious weapons.

Gatundu south Member of Parliament Moses Kuria has come out to condemn the chaos and blamed Muranga Women Rep Sabina Chege. According to Kuria, Sabina Wanjiru Chege paid the youths each Ksh1000 to cause the chaos and block the second in command from accessing the county.

To her much surprise, locals and Muranga County Residents were waiting for the DP and in turn attacked the goons allegedly paid by Sabina. In a video shared by Moses Kuria, a young lady testifies that indeed Sabina Paid them to cause the chaos.

Murang’a South Deputy County Commissioner Mawira Mungania confirmed the fatality, and said more police officers had been deployed to quel the tension.

“One person has been killed and we have several others injured,” Mungania said.
Trouble started when youths blocked roads at Kenol, and started engaging rivals in running battles.

Police threw tear gas at the rowdy youths as a heavy contingent of officers kept vigil around the AIPCA church where DP Ruto is scheduled to attend Sunday service and lead a fundraiser.

Police said they will investigate circumstances under which the person was killed.
Several vehicles were also damaged, as the main highway to Nyeri remained impassable for hours.

DP Ruto arrived at at around 10.30am for the church event.

this is not the first time the two factions are clashing ,Last weekend, Kieleweke and Tangatanga MPss clashed during the burial of five family members in Kangema Constituency. Leaders allied to DP Ruto, led by Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro, condemned the chaos terming it “sponsored hooliganism”.

“You know the official version is we are investigating to know the relation,” Mr Nyoro said while addressing journalists in Kenol Sunday morning.
