Jane Kagwiria from Meru County has turned up to be an inspiration to many after sharing her story on her journey to becoming a surgeon.

Having grown up from a poor family, her parents were unable to pay school fees and she had to drop at the age of 11, get circumcised and be married off to an unknown man.

Upon realizing this, Jane had to flee from home at a very tender age and started working as a housemaid. At 17 years of age, Father Njagi helped her go back to school while she continued working and managed a C minus in KSCE.

She later got a job with a security firm and was deployed to Mathare Mental Hospital in Nairobi. This is when she realized her passion after getting inspired to staying with the patients.

She joined college whereby she could go to work from 6 am to 6 pm, go home, take care of her child and later enter class.

After years of hard work, she graduated and got a job with Amref and now she is working as an assistant surgeon.

Her story is quite inspiring and she encourages people that it is never too late to get that job of your dreams. Just keep walking, you will get there.
