The news of the two brothers who were among three abducted in Kitengela a month ago being found alive has brought a sense of relief to their families and the community at large. The brothers went missing just a few meters from their home in Kitengela, while Njagi was allegedly pulled out of a bus in Mlolongo and taken away in a Subaru.The involvement of security officers in the abduction raised questions and led to investigations by the authorities. The Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and the National Police Service denied having any knowledge of the whereabouts of the three men, prompting the Law Society of Kenya to file a case seeking their production.
The situation escalated to the point where former acting Inspector General of Police, Gilbert Masengeli, was handed a six-month jail term for contempt of court after failing to appear in court to explain the disappearance of the abducted individuals. Masengeli’s attempts to overturn the sentence and apologize to the court faced challenges, with his legal team seeking urgent court appearances to avoid the commencement of the jail term.The discovery of the two brothers has brought some hope in the midst of uncertainty surrounding the abduction case.
