The body of the Chief of Defence Forces General Francis Ogolla arrived at Kisumu International Airport on Sunday, marking the beginning of the final journey to his resting place in Ng’iya village, Alego-Usonga, Siaya County. The somber occasion was met with a sense of reverence and respect as Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, alongside top military officials and ICT Cabinet Secretary Eliud Owalo, received the body.
Accompanied by Ogolla’s wife and son, the body was given a brief military parade at the airport as a mark of honor and respect for the fallen General. Locals gathered along the Kisumu-Bondo road to pay their last respects as the procession made its way to the village.
President William Ruto arrived at Senator Obama K’Ogello primary school in Siaya for the burial ceremony, showing his respect for the late General. The Commander-in-Chief’s presence added to the solemnity of the occasion, highlighting the significance of General Ogolla’s service to the nation.
